The Education and Training
Foundation (ETF) is the sector-owned, government
backed workforce development body for the Further Education (FE)
and Training sector. Our mission is to transform our
country’s technical education  system by ensuring the sector
has world-class teachers, trainers, assessors and leaders. This will lead to ever
improving outcomes for your
learners, a better skilled workforce and
a stronger economy and society. We offer professional membership
and status Through the Society for Education
and Training or SET. It is the largest membership
body for professionals working across across further education,
vocational teaching and training with well over 17 thousand
members, and growing. SET administers Qualified
Teacher Learning and Skills
status and Advanced Teacher Status on
behalf of the ETF your route to the recognition
professionals deserve. We have a range of high quality
programmes, courses and
resources available, underpinned by the Professional
Standards that we developed for
the sector, Our popular Maths and
English CPD supports teachers and
trainers to enhance their
teaching approaches. We support peer led
collaborative practice through our Outstanding Teaching
Learning and Assessment
Programme and our Professional Exchange
Networks To prevent radicalisation and
extremism in the FE sector we offer Prevent Duty training. Our Special Educational Needs
and Disabilities Programme helps to increase awareness and expertise in delivering
high-quality support for those who need it most. We recognises the importance of
staying digitally savvy and have developed a range of
online courses to improve personal
digital skills and how to apply them in a
teaching and training
environment. Access to our other face to face
and e-learning CPD can be found on our website. We also have our Foundation
Online Learning and Excellence Gateway websites
to provide further support. Another key part of our support is for the leaders across
the FE sector. Together with the Oxford Saïd
Business School, we have designed the
prestigious Strategic
Leadership Programme for Principals and
Chief Executives. For aspiring leaders we
have built our Preparing for CEO Programme equipping
them with the skills to make the transition
to that role. Our Chief Financial Officer
Programme co-developed with the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of
England and Wales supports CFOs to be
more effective strategic business partners
within organisations. Our other leadership programmes including support for middle
managers, Chairs and governors. Information can be found on
our dedicated Leadership Hub. As well as supporting those
already in the sector; we have a range of programmes
to encourage recruitment into crucial roles. Our FE Advice Line is run by a
dedicated team of experts that provide free information
about how to start teaching in the
FE and Training sector. Further Forces retrains Armed
Forces Service-leavers to teach technical subjects, offering a rewarding
second career. To address the sectors key
skills gaps we also run the Taking
Teaching Further, SET for Teaching Success and
Teach Too recruitment
programmes. Data and research are
fundamental to what we do and helps to inform our work
and the sector as a whole. In 2017 we conducted the
first ever sector wide Training Needs
Analysis that we will regularly
undertake. This provides crucial data
to ensure our future training
meets sector needs. We maintain the Staff
Individualised Record Data Insights service that collects
workforce data annually
from providers. We are a dedicated
team of professionals with experience and expertise, here to help those working
in the Further Education and training
sector with their workforce development
